Class Advisor System and Student Counseling
The college implements a class advisor system to promote communication between students and faculty,
In the Communication and Language Program, first-year students are assigned a Communication Seminar instructor in the first semester and a Research Project Seminar instructor in the second semester. In the Early Childhood Education Program, first-year students are assigned a Basic Seminar instructor in the first semester, a Research Project Seminar instructor in the second semester, and in the second year, a Practical Childcare Seminar II instructor. Office Hours
Office hours are set aside as a time for students to ask questions and seek advice related to their courses.
In principle, this is "a time when students can visit the professor’s office without an appointment to consult and discuss freely".
Notes on Using Office Hours Effectively
Please keep the following points in mind to make the most of office hours:
- Q:Can I only consult during office hours?
- A: No. You can also visit a professor’s office outside office hours, as long as it does not conflict with their classes. In such cases, please check briefly with the professor to see if it is convenient.
- Q:Am I guaranteed to be able to consult during office hours?
- A:Generally, yes. However, professors may sometimes be absent due to illness, business trips, or meetings. If this happens, you can either check with the administration office about the professor’s availability or visit at the next opportunity (not necessarily limited to office hours).
- Q:Can I consult about anything?
- A:Some topics are handled by specific administrative offices:
- Academic matters (course registration, grades, certificates, exams, etc.) ... Academic Affairs Office
- Scholarships (Japan Student Services Organization, Kobayashi Ikueikai, or university scholarships) ... Academic Affairs Office
- Public lectures or civil service exam preparation courses ... Academic Affairs Office
- Health issues or injuries ... Health Center (after 3:00 PM, Academic Affairs Office)
